Differdange: top spot before Europe?

Three matches will liven up this fifth matchday of Ligue 1 FLF. Zolwer host Gruefwiss, Wiltz welcome Sanem, and Miseler will try to slow down an FC Differdange 03 side heading into their European week.

Le Progrès Niederkorn sit alone at the top of the standings with 12 points after four matchdays and an impressive goal difference of +31. FC Differdange 03 follow at a distance with 9 points from just three matches played, ahead of 1. FC Gruefwiss Leideleng (6 pts) and ASC Zolwer (6 pts as well, but with a negative goal difference). Miseler Léiwen, FC Wiltz 71 and CS Sanem occupy the lower part of the table, with the latter two still without a single point to their name.

This matchday opens on 24 October with a tricky visit for ASC Zolwer, who will host 1. FC Gruefwiss Leideleng at the Complexe Sportif Sanem. The last two meetings between these teams have clearly gone Gruefwiss's way, winning 16-5 in January and then 9-2 in October 2025. Zolwer, who have had an uneven start to the season marked by a heavy defeat to Niederkorn (5-17) but also a convincing win at Sanem (10-3), will need to raise their defensive level to reverse the trend against a Gruefwiss side coming off a hard-fought defeat to FC Differdange (2-7) and a wide win against Sanem (16-1).

The following day, 25 October, FC Wiltz 71 host CS Sanem at the Centre Scolaire et Sportif Wiltz, in a duel between two teams still without points this season. The history between these two sides is rich and rather favourable to Wiltz, who have won four of the last five meetings, including a clear 11-2 in March 2026. Only a 5-5 draw in December 2025 has disrupted this dominance. Both teams arrive on difficult runs: Wiltz notably suffered a heavy defeat to Differdange (4-16), while Sanem suffered a severe setback against Gruefwiss (1-16).

Finally, also on 25 October, Miseler Léiwen host FC Differdange 03 at the Hall sportif Remerschen. The history between these two clubs is one-sided in favour of Differdange, who notably inflicted a 35-2 defeat in April 2026 and a 19-0 one in October 2025. Miseler, who have played only three matches this season and are coming off a narrow home win over Zolwer (9-8), will need to significantly raise their level of play against a solid opponent, currently second in the standings. This match will be the last before FC Differdange 03's European week.
